CFUW is a voluntary non-government, non-partisan organization founded in 1919. CFUW members are committed to the pursuit of knowledge, the promotion of education, the improvement of the status of women and the advancement of human rights.
Membership in CFUW/FCFDU is open to any woman who is resident of Canada and has earned a degree or diploma or equivalent qualification; or has earned a professional designation or qualification that currently requires a degree or diploma and to any woman who supports the goals and values of CFUW.
CFUW Owen Sound and Area is one of 130 Clubs in Canada. We provide opportunities for fellowship for 62 members. Our local club supports education through its Scholarship fund, presenting scholarships to qualifying students at each of the three local Secondary Schools

The Owen Sound CFUW Scholarship Program's mandate is to encourage young women in our community to pursue post-secondary education. To that end, the Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to young women graduating from secondary schools in June and proceeding to university in the fall of each year. Scholarships are offered at each of Owen Sound's three secondary schools yearly, and are funded solely by annual donations from CFUW members. Their generosity has allowed the Scholarship Fund Program to disburse over $14,000.00 since its inception in 1993. The CFUW Scholarship Fund is registered as a not-for-profit corporation in Ontario, and is a Registered Charity under the terms of the Income Tax Act (Federal), thus allowing the Fund to issue official tax receipts for donations.
